The Russell Athletic Bowl will feature two of the more historic programs in College Football history, when the Clemson Tigers take on the Oklahoma Sooners. The Tigers have finished the regular season as the 18th ranked in college football. Clemson recently lost star quarterback Deshaun Watson to a torn ACL. Clemson will start quarterback Cole Stoudt, who has thrown over 20 passes in 7 games this season. In those matchups, the Tigers are 6-1. However, Stoudt has thrown only six touchdowns compared to a dismal ten interceptions. Stoudt will have a big challenge when he faces off against all-conference cornerback Zack Sanchez.
Oklahoma comes into this game after having a disappointing regular season. The team came into the season with National Title expectations, which they have failed to meet. The Sooners finished the regular season at 8-4, and unranked. This team lost to rival Oklahoma State at home in overtime. They don’t carry much momentum into the bowl game, and quarterback Trevor Knight has thrown nine interceptions in this underwhelming season.
According to Totally Tickets, the average price for the Russell Athletic Bowl tickets this year is $121.35. That shows a 37% decrease in the price of last week. Keep in mind; the game will be played on December 29th. Expect Oklahoma football tickets from Totally Tickets to drop as we approach game time. The battle of these two disappointments is going to make for some interesting football. Both teams want to end this season on a high note.
Oklahoma tailback Samaje Perine and receiver Sterling Shepard will be going up against one of the toughest defenses they’ve seen all season. Clemson’s Vic Beasley will be looking to get after the passer. Perine and Shepard will have to play a stellar game if the Sooners plan to top Clemson. The loser of this game will chalk up this season as a failure, so look for a hard-fought game.
Both Oklahoma and Clemson will be looking to send off their seniors the right way. Clemson will be sending off many defensive leaders. Vic Beasley, Stephone Anthony, and Robert Smith all want to go out on top. Also, could this be the last game for Oklahoma pass rusher Erik Striker? We’ll find out on December 29th in Orlando, Florida.
