A very intriguing Big 12 conference game takes place this Saturday as the No. 7 ranked Baylor Bears visit Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium to take on their conference rival Texas Longhorns. Both football programs have been heading in different directions the past few years with the longtime powerhouse Longhorns struggling to remain relevant and the Bears consistently in the hunt for the Big 12 Championship.
Baylor is now one of the Big 12’s elite teams after struggling at the bottom for more than a decade. The Bears are in their third year under coach Art Briles in 2010 and have become a completely different football team going 40- 16 since. Comparatively, the Longhorns are just 32-23 since 2010 but still hold a 74-25-4 all-time edge but have lost three of the past four meetings to Baylor.
Texas vs Baylor football tickets for this game have a current average price of $132 on the secondary market with a get-in price of $53, according to Totally Tickets.
The Texas Longhorns didn’t start out their 2014 campaign like they hoped dropping two of the first three games of the year, but rebounding with a good win over Kansas. Baylor will be the second top 25 team Texas has faced this season as they dropped a close one to ranked UCLA at home in their last meeting with a top 25 team. Following the Bears, the Longhorns will face off against the Oklahoma Sooners at the Cotton Bowl. The average price for OU Texas tickets is currently $263, almost double the price of this week’s upcoming game.
Baylor has been on a tear so far this season blowing out each of their four opponents, granted they have not faced much resistance on the opposing side in each of those games. Nonetheless, if the Bears can dominate a respectable Texas’s team, the college football world will certainly take notice. Bears quarterback Bryce Petty helped the team lead the nation in scoring last year for the third straight season, and this year have picked up where they left averaging 56.8 points per game and 641 yards per game leading the country in both categories.
